2022 Photo Workshops
Joe will be leading each and every Workshop and when available will be joined by his wife Diane. Joe and Diane are experienced teachers, instructors and guides who know the areas they visit and where and when to get the best photographs possible each day. Each of our workshops includes instruction on the entire process of creating better images both in the technical and creative sense, with a focus on composition.
With the exception of European Photo Tours, transportation and lodging are not included in the tuition, though we will make recommendations for each hotel we use. You book your room and pay for meals and entrance fees. We will arrange restaurants when appropriate and meeting rooms for classroom instruction when part of the workshop.
Our goal is to help you capture the best images possible - we are always available and want to help make your photography experience memorable, fun and fulfilling!
Golden Aspens, Snow Capped Mountains, Canyons and the Durango Train!
Durango-Telluride Fall Colors Photo Workshop
September 24-29, 2022 Tuition $1895
If you are excited by the combination of amazing Fall Colors combined with beautiful mountain scenes, I can't think of a better place that the region around Telluride Colorado. The Fall colors around Telluride, Ouray, Silverton and Durango are consistently at their best during the last week of September. We can expect to see plenty of shimmering, golden aspens against the deep greens of the pines in both the valleys and along the mountainsides.
Snow on the peaks is a possibility, and the landscapes all around the region are breathtaking. We will start with a trip on the Durango & Silverton railroad as it steams through the San Juan mountains (picture shown above!). We're adding a visit to The Black Canyon of the Gunnison National Park as our hotel on the second part of this week is right nearby! Try to imagine 2,000 feet of sheer cliffs down to the river! This is an easy place to visit with amazing photographic payoffs!
Join us and experience stunning mountain vistas, intense falls colors , an incredible canyon and an iconic trip ride through the San Juan Mountains.
We have just three spots left, so if you are considering joining us, now is the time to grab your spot. There is no real hiking during this trip as all of the viewpoints are close to where we park. The scenery is outstanding, and with the exception of train tickets, spouses/partners are welcome to join us at no extra charge!
Workshops for Fall 2022
Newport Lighthouses, Beaches & Mansions
October 17-21, 2022, Tuition $595
After a recent Cape Cod Workshop, Diane and I headed over to Newport to scout out locations and logistics for this trip. We wanted to check driving distances, sight-lines and specific locations for the best photos available - and we found some great photo spots!
In addition, we made a connection with one of the boats doing tours around Newport Harbor and Narragansett Bay and will be taking a boat trip that gives us water views of some beautiful lighthouses!
We will also visit some beaches - including the wonderful rocky coast of Beavertail State Park - and the famous Cliff Walk which has panoramic ocean views on one side, and Gilded Age Mansions like The Breakers, Rosecliff, Beachwood and Marble House on the other side. As a break from the beaches and lighthouses we can see how the Vanderbilts and the Astors lived!
Spouses and Partners are welcome to join us at no extra charge, except for the costs of our Newport Harbour boat tickets ($45, includes gratuity). Join us for four days of photography inspiration and instruction, great food and a beautiful location!
We'll finish up by Friday lunchtime after starting the day exploring more and finish up with more great photos.

Sedona - Grand Canyon Photo Workshop
November 13-18, 2022 Tuition $1895
Join us for five days of amazing scenery as we explore the Red Rock Country of Sedona, AZ and the majesty of the Grand Canyon. We visit iconic photo locations in and around Sedona including Cathedral Rock and take a Pink Jeep Tour to get to those places only visited by those with off-road 4x4 capabilities.
We’ll meet in Sedona on Sunday afternoon, explore the area and prepare for our week of shooting. The iconic locations around Sedona wait for us on and we will make sure to visit as many as possible! Hiking will be kept to a minimum, and as always, we’ll follow the light each day for the best landscape photography.
We’ll head to the South Rim of the Grand Canyon for a full day shoot, and we will pick our day based on the best light and conditions available to us. On Thursday, we have all day to photograph and explore the viewpoints along the canyon. If we have time, we’ll also head to a special location for a mid-afternoon photo treat. Friday morning will start with a sunrise shoot at the canyon and then we’ll have a wrap-up session to sum up our experiences and leave feeling inspired and rejuvenated!

Amazing Vistas of Colors and Shapes!
Death Valley Photo Workshop
November 6-11, 2022 - Tuition $1895
Death Valley may conjure images of desert and bleak surroundings, but it is in reality a beautiful place with an amazing palette of shape, color and light. We chose early November because the crowds are infrequent, the weather is great (daytime high in the upper 70's and lows around 50) and traveling around the park is easy. Once we all arrive in the park, we will carpool around to all of the shooting sites. If you fly, Las Vegas is the closest airport (a bit over two hours to Furnace Creek) and that is where we will be flying into.
From the lowest elevation in the US at Badwater Basin (282 ft. below sea level) to the stunning view from Dante's Peak (5,475 feet) we will see this collection of formations and colors from every angle imaginable!
If you have never been here, you might be surprised that the low sections of the park are surrounded by some big mountains. The tallest is Telescope Peak at an elevation of 11,043 feet. Believe it or not, there's even a waterfall in Death Valley named Darwin's Falls, and it flows all year round.
Tuition is $1895! reserve your spot with just a $495 deposit
Includes five days of touring, instruction and classroom image editing sessions.
