2021-2022 Photo Workshops

Joe will be leading each and every Workshop and when available will be joined by his wife Diane. Joe and Diane are experienced teachers, instructors and guides who know the areas they visit and where and when to get the best photographs possible each day. Each of our workshops includes instruction on the entire process of creating better images both in the technical and creative sense.

With the exception of European Photo Tours, transportation and lodging are not included in the tuition, though we will make recommendations for each hotel we use. You book your room and pay for meals and entrance fees. We will arrange restaurants when appropriate and meeting rooms for classroom instruction when part of the workshop.

Our job is to help you capture the best images possible - we are always available and want to help make your photography experience both memorable and fulfilling!

Cape Cod after Labor Day is a wonderful time of year for touring and photography. The weather is warm, the crowds are diminished and the photo opportunities abound!

We’ll tour the island and surrounding region to find the best spots to capture both the seashore and the wonderful diversity of Lighthouses in the area including Nobska Point, Chatham, Nauset and Highland Lights. We stay at the Hyannis Travel Inn in Hyannis which is a mid-point of Cape Cod so that we can venture out each day from a convenient location. We have a special rate of just $89/night for our guests - just tell them you are with The Cape Cod Lighthouse Photo Tour Group when you call them at (508) 775-8200!

We choose our locations based on the weather and cloudscapes as we chase the best light possible, so we may adjust where we go each day based on the best photos available.

We’ll start at Scituate light in nearby Scituate, MA and then head out to the Cape.  Depending on conditions, we will plan on taking the ferries to either or both Martha's Vineyard and Nantucket Islands. We'll finish up by Friday mid-day after starting the day exploring more of the Cape.

This trip is great for both photographers and non-shooters - everyone will enjoy the scenery, touring, shopping and wonderful food that Cape Cod has to offer!

Tuition is just $595 with three days of touring including photo and compositional instruction. Spouses/partners are welcome to tour with us at no extra charge! No need to register them - just let us know their names!

Featuring Valley of the Gods, Bluff, Durango and Telluride

Join us this fall for a relaxing and expansive Tour of the Four Corners region of the American Southwest. We'll spend six days exploring the many varied landscapes from desert buttes to snow capped mountains. A lot of you have expressed interest in visiting the Four Corners Photo region, so I'm opening up registration with a small fee to hold your place as Monument Valley is currently closed.

If Monument Valley reopens before our arrival, we will absolutely add that back into our itinerary!

We will also visit some spots around Mexican Hat and Bluff, UT to add some real variety and flavor to our photography, and we will then take the Mountain Pass back to Durango through Telluride and Silverton. This means that we will encounter an amazing variety of landscapes from desert buttes and mesas to snow-capped mountains - all in one week!

We will continue to practice social distancing as we will need to drive our own cars, but once on location you can expect one-on-one instruction and guiding in the field to help you compose and capture the best images possible.

Tuition for the week is just $1895, but to make your reservation risk-free we are offering both a low initial registration fee and the promise of a complete refund up to 30 days before the trip starts. Transportation, meals and lodging is not included but we will help with recommendations for each place we visit. We understand that these are strange times and will keep common sense and safety in mind on all of our trips - if any of our trips are cancelled for any reason, we offer full refunds.

January 9-14, 2022 - Moab, UT  Tuition $1895
NORTH WINDOW-.jpg

You've heard the stories about crowds at National Parks, and we have witnessed some of them in both Yellowstone and in Arches. We pick our Workshop times to avoid the crowds and January in Arches is one of the best times to go there!

Don't let the word "Winter" scare you - Moab in January is actually quite mild with daytime temperatures averaging in the 50's. That also don't get much snow here, but how nice would it be to have a frosting of snow on some of the Arches?! We've been planing on visiting the Moab region during this time of year for ages - now it's happening. This is a quiet time of year here, without the crowds while the town of Moab is open for business.

The landscapes look the same here all year- round so you won't be missing out. Join us for an amazing time in the incredible Landscapes around Moab, Utah. Arches and Canyonlands National Parks along with Dead Horse and Goblin Valley State Parks will provide a unique combination of formations to keep us busy with great photography.

Lodging is not included, but we will arrange a group rate at the Homewood Suites in Moab, our Headquarters for the past four years. Tuition for the week is $1895 and Includes six days of touring, on-location instruction and classroom image editing sessions.
